KEWOPA ENGAGES MURANG’A MCAS IN LEADERSHIP AND EMPOWERMENT SESSIONS

The Kenya Women Parliamentary Association (KEWOPA) held an impactful leadership and empowerment session with Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) in Murang’a County. The session focused on equipping women leaders with essential skills in leadership, constitutional provisions, electoral processes, resource mobilization, political branding, campaign strategies, and legislative frameworks.

The forum provided a platform for MCAs to engage in meaningful discussions on governance and leadership. Hon. Veronica Maina, a key speaker at the event, emphasized the importance of integrity, excellence, and mentorship. She challenged participants to approach their roles with diligence, stating, “Whatever you do, make sure you do it thoroughly and in an excellent manner.” She also underscored the need for women leaders to support and mentor others, fostering a network of capable and visionary women in leadership.

The session encouraged an open dialogue where participants shared personal experiences, leadership challenges, and strategies for overcoming barriers. A key resolution from the discussion was the commitment to securing more leadership positions for women by uniting around common goals, advocating for inclusivity, and amplifying women’s voices in governance.

A notable highlight of the forum was the discussion on mental health and the need for leaders to prioritize their well-being while also supporting the mental health of their communities. Additionally, participants recognized the importance of supporting the boy child to ensure holistic development and equity within society.

KEWOPA remains dedicated to advancing women’s leadership through capacity-building initiatives, mentorship programs, and advocacy efforts. By fostering knowledge-sharing and strategic networking, the association continues to empower women leaders at all levels, driving progress in governance and community development. The engagement in Murang’a County is part of KEWOPA’s broader mission to strengthen women’s political participation and leadership across the country. Through these initiatives, KEWOPA continues to champion gender-inclusive policies and support structures that enable women leaders to thrive.
