DRIVING KEWOPA’S STRATEGIC AGENDA

The Kenya Women Parliamentary Association (KEWOPA) has reaffirmed its role as a leading voice in championing women’s leadership and political participation by convening a strategy-setting meeting to define priorities for the months ahead.

During the session, members engaged in candid discussions on the two-thirds gender principle, amplifying women leaders’ voices in national dialogue and strengthening engagement with former members and other key leaders. They also reflected on outcomes from KEWOPA’s recent meeting with the Chief Justice, underscoring the importance of judicial support in advancing gender equality and justice.

The meeting reviewed progress under the Komesha Dhuluma campaign and outlined legislative and parliamentary priorities aligned with KEWOPA’s mandate. Members examined critical programmatic areas such as gender responsive budgeting, women’s political participation, the fight against gender-based violence and recognition of the care economy as a key pillar of national development.

KEWOPA members resolved to build on these efforts by deepening partnerships with development partners, civil society and other stakeholders. With this renewed focus, the association aims to ensure that women’s representation and voices remain central to Kenya’s political and development agenda.
