KEWOPA CONVENES STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP AND LEARNING MEETING TO ADVANCE CARE REFORMS

The Kenya Women Parliamentary Association convened a Strategic Partnership and Learning Meeting in partnership with Oxfam Kenya and Oxfam US to strengthen collaboration with Women Members of Parliament on advancing the care agenda and transformative women’s leadership.

The meeting focused on safeguarding gender equality gains within the electoral context and across political transitions. Participants examined measures to protect progress and strengthen women’s leadership in decision making spaces.

Deliberations addressed the institutionalisation of the Care Policy through strengthened parliamentary oversight and sustainable fiscal allocations. Emphasis was placed on embedding care reforms within legislative processes, budget frameworks, and accountability mechanisms to ensure continuity and impact.

The engagement also reviewed political and implementation risks that could affect progress and identified strategies to manage them. The partnership affirmed its commitment to ensuring care reforms are embedded, funded, and sustained across political cycles.
