The forum brought together experienced women leaders and aspiring politicians for focused reflection, learning, and exchange.

The first day featured insights from Hon. Beatrice Akinyi Oyomo Ogolla, Hon. Consolata Wakwabubi, and Hon. Jayne Kihara, who shared lived experiences from their political journeys. Their contributions highlighted structural and social barriers that continue to affect women in leadership, including limited visibility, cultural constraints, and persistent misrepresentation in media spaces. They emphasized the importance of performance, consistency, and intentional positioning in public life.

Deliberations focused on identifying priority skill gaps that affect women’s effectiveness in political leadership. Key areas included strategic communication, narrative control, policy influence, and network building. Participants examined practical approaches to strengthen these competencies and improve women’s capacity to lead with clarity and authority.

The engagement reinforced the need for women leaders to take ownership of their public narratives and to build strong, strategic networks that sustain their political work. It also affirmed KEWOPA’s commitment to advancing women’s leadership by equipping members with the tools required to navigate complex political environments and enhance their impact in governance and representation.

KEWOPA continues to drive structured platforms that strengthen women’s voices in Parliament through targeted capacity building and sustained strategic engagement.

Memory full

KEWOPA convened a strategic engagement under the WYDE Political Parties Programme to strengthen women’s leadership in Parliament through skills development…

[1
