The forum was led by Senator Hon. Beatrice Akinyi Oyomo Ogolla and brought together women, youth, community leaders, civil society representatives, and other key stakeholders to discuss the barriers limiting meaningful participation in electoral and governance processes.

The dialogue provided a platform for participants to share their experiences and identify challenges affecting inclusive political participation. Key issues raised included limited access to political spaces, financial barriers to political participation, voter registration and verification challenges, concerns around party primaries and nominations, violence against women in politics, and the exclusion of young people from decision-making processes.

Participants also explored practical solutions to strengthen electoral accountability, transparency, and citizen participation at the grassroots level. Through open discussions, the forum generated priority advocacy issues and community-driven recommendations aimed at informing legislative and policy reforms that promote greater inclusion in electoral processes.

Among the key recommendations were strengthening legal and institutional protections against violence in politics, improving fairness and transparency in party nomination processes, reducing financial barriers that limit political participation, and enhancing the meaningful representation of women and youth in leadership and decision-making positions.

The Town Hall forms part of ongoing efforts to advance inclusive electoral governance by amplifying community voices and fostering constructive engagement between citizens, policymakers, electoral institutions, and political actors. The recommendations generated will contribute to advocacy initiatives aimed at building a more inclusive, transparent, and accountable electoral system that reflects the aspirations of all Kenyans.

Inclusive electoral governance depends on equal participation, fair access, and accountable institutions that ensure every citizen has an opportunity to shape democratic processes.
