KEWOPA EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE RECONNECT AND REFLECT AT TRANSFORMATIVE NAIVASHA RETREAT.
KEWOPA Executive committee members recently came together for a retreat that went far beyond the usual agenda. This gathering was not merely a break from their day-to-day responsibilities but an essential opportunity to reflect deeply on their leadership paths, recharge, and reconnect with their core motivations.
Supported by URAIA and the Royal Danish Embassy, the retreat provided a much-needed pause for these leaders to assess where they’ve been and where they are headed. It was a rare chance to engage in meaningful conversations that addressed the real challenges and triumphs of their roles, without the pressure of formalities.
The retreat’s discussions extended beyond individual leadership. There was a strong emphasis on the concept of intergenerational leadership—understanding how today’s women leaders are building on the legacy of those who came before and how they can pave the way for future generations. It was a moment to honor past leaders while actively shaping the future.
“ We have had an opportunity to look at the trail blazers that have created these spaces that we enjoy now and we are looking forward to incorporating them into our movement so that we don’t forget where we have come from,” Hon. Leah Sankaire said.
Beyond the discussions, the retreat offered a chance for these women to strengthen their bonds. They shared personal stories, laughed together, and supported one another through moments of vulnerability. It was a powerful reminder that, despite the pressures of their positions, they are part of a larger, supportive community.
As the retreat concluded, the participants departed with a renewed sense of purpose and determination. They left not only as individual leaders but as a cohesive group, ready to face future challenges with fresh insight and a collective spirit.
“ We need a united voice that will rise above any differences that we have as women leaders to stand together, work together, and make KEWOPA great,” Hon. Beth Syengo remarked.
Reflecting on the retreat, Hon. Beatrice Elachi remarked, “This experience has been a vital moment to recharge, to reconnect with what drives us, and to renew our commitment to making a difference. I leave here with renewed energy and clarity, ready to continue the important work ahead.”
Thanks to the support from URAIA and the Royal Danish Embassy, these KEWOPA is ow better prepared to continue advancing political leadership and fostering a more inclusive environment. The retreat wasn’t just about reflection; it was about moving forward with a stronger, united vision for the future.
